    Watershed Workshops

The San Gabriel Mountains Regional Conservancy (SGMRC) was awarded a Proposition 13 Watershed Protection Grant by the State Water Resources Control Board to prepare a watershed plan for the three sub-watersheds above Whittier Narrows: San Jose Creek, Walnut Creek, and the Upper San Gabriel River. Watershed workshops, Issue Forums, and a Technical Advisory Committee will meet the second Wednesday of each month from 1-3:00 P.M., at the SCE CTAC facility in Irwindale throughout the process to develop the Watershed Plan.

Funding for this project has been provided in full or in part through a contract with the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) pursuant to the Costa-Machado Water Act of 2000 (Proposition 13) and any amendments thereto for the implementation of California's Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program. The contents of this document do not necessarily reflect the views and policies of the SWRCB, nor does mention of trade names or commercial products constitute endorsement or recommendation for use.

Funding for the Think River! component of the project is provided by the Wetlands Recovery Project of Southern California, Rivers and Mountains Conservancy, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Azusa Pacific University, Fly Fishers Club of Orange County, and Vulcan Materials Company. Generous in-kind support of our partners: City of Azusa, Azusa Unified School District, County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, Project EAST (Gladstone High School), Regional Water Quality Control Board, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. National Park Service have made this a possibility as well.

Additionally, Southern California Edison has generously offered the use of their Irwindale Customer Technology Assistance Center (CTAC) for stakeholder and other related meetings and/or events to be held on the second Wednesday of each month during the process to develop the Proposition 13 Watershed Management Plan for the San Gabriel River Above Whittier Narrows.

The San Gabriel Mountains Regional Conservancy was established in 1997 as a private, nonprofit, collaborative organization that is building on the success of pioneering local, nonprofit conservancies and land trusts in the San Gabriel Valley. Over the past 15 years, more than two dozen local, nonprofit conservancies and land trusts have formed in Los Angeles County. Gifts and support to your local, nonprofit conservancy or land trust are needed and tax deductible. The Conservancy also offers free assistance free to communities wishing to explore conservancy advantages and assistance in balanced planning practices for the San Gabriel Valley.
